Travel & arrival

Getting to Cotonou, reaching your hotel, then the venue: what the Committee organises, and what remains your responsibility.

Cotonou international airport

Terminal of Cotonou Cadjehoun international airport

Cardinal Bernardin Gantin international airport in Cotonou, at Cadjehoun (code COO), lies about 5 km from the city centre. It is the point of entry for almost every delegation.

Allow a comfortable margin on departure: exit formalities can take longer on Sunday 28 February, when many delegations leave.

Airport → hotel transfer

Arranged by the Committee for participants who have declared their arrival date and time. You will be met in the arrivals hall, under a GLUB 2027 banner.

Free

Hotel → venue shuttles

Two runs in the morning and two in the evening, between the partner hotels and the venue, from 22 to 28 February.

Free

Getting around on your own

Taxis and rental cars are available in the city. Agree the fare before getting in: taxis are not fitted with meters.

At your expense

Delegations travelling by coach

Delegations arriving overland from a neighbouring country are asked to notify the Committee at least two weeks in advance.

On request

Declare your times

The airport transfer is only possible if the Committee knows your arrival date and time. Enter them in your participant area, by 8 February 2027 at the latest.

Getting around Cotonou

Cotonou can be explored by taxi, by moto-taxi (zémidjan) or with a driver. Always agree the price before getting in. For night journeys, prefer the Convent shuttles or a driver you trust.

From Cotonou

  • OuidahAbout 40 km from the airport, 45 to 55 minutes by car depending on traffic (estimate)
  • Porto-NovoAbout 30 km, journey time varies with the departure time
  • GanviéOn Lake Nokoué, north of Cotonou

Car hire with a driver

City car, saloon, SUV, minibus or coach: a vehicle hired with a French-speaking driver-guide lets you choose the departure time and the stops, without worrying about driving or parking.

At your own expense

Car hire is not provided by the Organising Committee. The price is requested directly from the hire company, which agrees the terms with you.
